Drainage Water Management Systems
Drainage water management (DWM), also called controlled drainage, allows farmers to control when and how much water can leave the field through a control structure.

How It Works
While a conventional tile drainage system will lower the water table, a DWM system lets farmers control the field’s water table. DWM systems have stop logs at the outlets; the farmer can raise or lower these to adjust the water table. The water is available and ready to use when it’s needed.
Benefits
- Can remove 30-45% of nitrates
- Increase corn yield by up to 70 bushels/acre
- Boost soybean yield by up to 25 bushels/acre
- Plant and harvest earlier
