Contoured Drainage Water Management
Contoured drainage water management (DWM) is a drainage practice that lets farmers control the water table over the entire field through water control structures.

How It Works
Contoured DWM works best on fields with slopes between 0.5% and 1.0%. Tile laterals are installed in zones with the contour of the field rather than perpendicular to it to intercept excess water flow to remove or store it. While there may be more control structures needed, contoured DWM is more efficient than traditional DWM.
Benefits
- Can remove 30-45% of nitrates
- Increase corn yield by up to 70 bushels/acre
- Boost soybean yield by up to 25 bushels/acre
- Plant and harvest earlier
