SPI would save considerable dollars by purchasing regrinds, reprocessed resins and fillers. However, the use of these materials would not allow us to achieve our goal of providing the drainage industry with the highest quality plastic drainage pipe available.

This commitment is sometimes very painful when a potential customer wants us to reduce our price because a competitor has used materials that are not 100% virgin. Who really loses in this situation? Sure Springfield Plastics, Inc. loses the sale, but really the farmer, landowner or homeowner who has this plastic pipe manufactured from non-virgin materials loses. We are sure that in most cases if the farmer, landowner or homeowner was consulted about which materials he wanted, he would choose virgin materials.
